Hi everyone
Welcome to my world of Karate and martial arts exploration! I’m Gert Corfitzen Jürgensen, and I’m thrilled to share my personal blog dedicated to the arts of old-school Karate and Kobudo. Join me as I delve into the captivating realms of history, origins, evolution, and tactical applications.
My Karate journey began in August ’81 when I was just a seventeen-year-old eager to explore the world of martial arts. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills and embraced Karate through dedicated training in various disciplines, including Wing Tsun, Kickboxing, Kenpo, Tai Chi and various Karate styles.
To me, Karate is not merely a series of movements or a display of physical prowess. It’s a profound philosophy that guides my actions both on and off the dojo floor. My interpretation of Karate revolves around the practical application of its techniques for self-defence, a concept I refer to as Jissen Karate Jutsu. My interpretation of Karate is deeply rooted in the traditional lineage of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu (Okinawa-Te).
Through this blog, I hope to foster a community of like-minded individuals who share my passion for Kumite techniques, Kata Bunkai, grappling, and history. I encourage you to join me on this journey of constant learning and growth as I uncover the rich tapestry that makes Karate and Kobudo such extraordinary martial arts.
So, let’s embark on this adventure together – explore the history, delve into the origins, and unlock the tactical mysteries that define Karate’s nature. I invite you to leave your thoughts and comments, making this blog a space for mutual sharing and learning.
I’m excited to have you on board as we embrace the warrior spirit within us all!”
Please join my Karate journey.
“It’s not a style, it’s open-minded Okinawan Karate. It’s old-style MMA”
